배당락일 Ex-dividend date

쉽지만 꼭 알아둘 배당금 관련 정보

현재 미국 주식에 투자 중이다. 때때로 내 계좌에 배당금(Dividend)이 들어오고 있다. 

배당금은 어느 시점을 기준으로 결정되는 것인가?

배당락일(Ex dividend date) 전에 주식을 매수해야 배당금을 받을 수 있다.

주식투자자가 배당락일 전에 주식을 산 후, 배당락일 당일 또는 배당락일 다음날에 주식을 팔아도 배당금을 받을 수 있다.

배당기준일(Record date)이나 배당지급일(Payment date)까지 주식을 보유해야 배당금을 받는 것이 아니다.

예를 들어, 배당락일 전날 주식을 산 후 배당락일 당일에 주식을 팔더라도 지급일에 배당금을 받을 수 있다.

용어 정리

배당발표일 (Dividend Declaration Date)

회사가 배당금을 지급할 것이라고 발표한 날이 배당발표일이다.

(Meaning: Date on which the company announces it is paying a dividend, often through a press release on Business Wire and/or by publishing an announcement on its website)

배당기준일 (Dividend Record Date)

배당받을 권리가 회사주주명부에 확정되는 날이 배당기준일이다.

(Meaning: Date on which the corporation's shareholder roster will be frozen for the purposes of determining who is eligible to receive the dividend)

배당락일 (Ex-dividend date)

주식을 매수하더라도 배당받을 권리가 제외(ex=excluding) 된 날이 배당락일이다. 따라서 배당락일 당일에 주식을 사면 다가올 배당금을 받지 못한다.

배당지급일 (Dividend Payment date)

증권계좌나 은행계좌로 현금 배당액이 지급된 날이 배당지급일이다.

(Meaning: Date when the cash actually shows up for shareholder in your brokerage account or checking account, ready to spend)
